The Globally Coherent Pattern of Autumn Monsoon Precipitation

چکیده
Abstract Over most tropical land areas, the annual peak in precipitation occurs during summer, associated with local monsoon circulation. However, some coastal regions tropics bulk of autumn, after low-level summer westerlies have abated. Examples include Nordeste region Brazil, southeastern India and Sri Lanka, Tanzania. Unlike equatorial regions, they receive little rainfall spring. Such are present along eastern coasts nearly all continents, suggesting that comprise a coherent yet previously unrecognized global phenomenon. In this study, we identify eight locations experience an “autumn monsoon” show unusual seasonal cycle is generated by similar mechanisms these. Recent change of the global monsoon precipitation ( 1979 – 2008 )
The global monsoon (GM) is a defining feature of the annual variation of Earth’s climate system. Quantifying and understanding the present-day monsoon precipitation change are crucial for prediction of its future and reflection of its past. Here we show that regional monsoons are coordinated not only by external solar forcing but also by internal feedback processes such as El Niño-Southern Osci...
متن کاملEast Asian summer monsoon precipitation variability since the last deglaciation
The lack of a precisely-dated, unequivocal climate proxy from northern China, where precipitation variability is traditionally considered as an East Asian summer monsoon (EASM) indicator, impedes our understanding of the behaviour and dynamics of the EASM. Here we present a well-dated, pollen-based, ~20-yr-resolution quantitative precipitation reconstruction (derived using a transfer function) ...

In this research, the relationship between NCPI and CACO indices with autumn precipitation of Southern Coast of Caspian Sea (SCCS) was investigated. In this regard, two sets of data were used (Aphrodite and Station). And the days with more rainfall than long-term average rainfall station and on condition that the rainfall is more than 70% of the region rainfall, were chosen as a day of widespre...
متن کاملSpatial Pattern of Phytoplankton Communities from Iranian Waters of the Gulf of Oman in Pre-Monsoon Period
There is a need to increase our knowledge about phytoplankton diversity and distribution in the Iranian waters of the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman. Phytoplankton samples along with environmental parameters of the Northeastern waters of the Gulf of Oman (Gordim Bay towards Gwadar Bay) were collected and recorded prior to summer monsoon (Mid of March 2013). Seven inshore and six offshore sta...
متن کاملGlobal monsoon precipitation responses to large volcanic eruptions
Climate variation of global monsoon (GM) precipitation involves both internal feedback and external forcing. Here, we focus on strong volcanic forcing since large eruptions are known to be a dominant mechanism in natural climate change. It is not known whether large volcanoes erupted at different latitudes have distinctive effects on the monsoon in the Northern Hemisphere (NH) and the Southern ...
